Food and organics bin
FOGO is changing.
The NSW EPA (environmental protection Agency) and Kiama Council Waste Services are asking everyone in Kiama LGA to continue to be 'good sorts'.
The changes have come from the NSW Government and the EPA to ensure the prevention of contamination from PTAs (polyfluoralkyls).
Keeping our FOGO free of contamination ensures efficient collection and processing as well as a quality finished compost.
Clean FOGO also helps to keep our processing costs down, and means Council is less likely to need to pass higher waste costs on to our community.
Kiama Council will be implementing the following changes from 1 August.
Urban residential waste zones - put in your green organics bin.
Rural waste zones - put in your red landfill bin or home composting system.
