Dementia Friendly Kiama

Council proudly delivered Dementia Friendly Kiama Project from 2014 to 2022. In collaboration with Dementia Australia, University of Wollongong and Kiama’s Local Dementia Alliance the project delivered significant outcomes for the community including:

• Bringing together community, researchers and experts on Dementia Friendly community and living with dementia programs
• Facilitating community consultation on age friendly communities
• Provision of trainings to local community groups to increase awareness and change attitudes toward people living with dementia
• Creating connections among community groups
• Establishment of Dementia Advisory Group

The Dementia Friendly Kiama Project has continued as the Dementia Inclusive Kiama Project under the auspices of Gerringong Rotary Club with Dementia Australia and the University of Wollongong as the major partners.
