Community gardening

A community garden is land that is used by the community to:

• grow food
• share information on gardening and environmental practices
• meet like-minded people.

Community gardening is a public, not-for-profit community activity that everyone can get involved with.

It provides benefits to the people involved and to our environment.

Start a Community Garden

To apply to set up a formal Community Garden on Council owned community land you also need to complete:

Form A: Formal Community Garden start up checklist(PDF, 93KB)
Form B: Formal Community Garden Management Plan template(PDF, 195KB)
Form C: Application to establish a formal Community Garden(PDF, 111KB)
Form D: Site Assessment for a formal Community Garden (if applicable)(PDF, 144KB).

Community gardening is a priority included in our Integrated Strategic Planning framework.

Our strategies for Community Gardens establish the roles and relationships between Council and Community Garden groups.
