Bombo Beach off-leash area

Located just off the Princes Highway, between Cathedral Rocks and Pheasant Point.

Dogs are only allowed off-leash and to swim in the centre area of Bombo Beach.

The map below shows the permitted area shaded green.

You must comply with the conditions of use for the dog off-leash area.

Conditions of use:

  • Dogs may only enter and exit Bombo Beach off-leash area via the shortest practical route.
    From the northern end, this route is via the walking track adjacent to the train tunnel entry to the northern car park.
    From the southern end, this route is via the fenced walkway that passes under the railway bridge from Hothersal Street car park.
  • Dogs are only permitted off-leash and to swim in the centre area of Bombo Beach (shown on the above map).
    Signs indicating the southern and northern limits are located on the beach.
  • Dogs must remain under effective control at all times by a person over the age of 16 years.
  • Owners and handlers are responsible for their dog's actions.
  • Dogs must be registered and identified by wearing a collar and tag.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside the designated area, including through the designated entry and exit points.
  • Dog faeces must be immediately removed and properly disposed of in bins provided.
  • Greyhounds, dogs declared dangerous and restricted breed dogs are prohibited.
  • Owners and handlers must comply with the Companion Animals Act 1998 and these conditions of use.
  • Members of the public accessing the dog off-leash area as a recreational activity are advised that Council utilises defences afforded to it under the Civil Liabilities Act 2002.
