Kiama Council, each year, lowers the Aboriginal flag, to mark the anniversary of the Minnamurra Massacre.
On 1 October 1818 white settlers shot six Aboriginal people camped by the Minnamurra River.
There were no repercussions for the killings, which were never publicly acknowledged.
A memorial, including plaque, established at the southern end of the Minnamurra bridge, indicates the area of the massacre.
