Kiama Council is committed to cultivating creativity across the Kiama region. We believe that investing in the cultural arts yields significant returns for our community—economically, socially, and by enhancing health and wellbeing.

We are developing a new Cultural Plan for 2025-2029.

Where we are

Phase 1 - Community Consultation:

Between 5 August - 30 September, we invited you to share your insights, dreams, and experiences to help us craft a Cultural Plan for 2025-2029 that reflects our community's creative aspirations.

Throughout the consultation, we received 89 survey responses, engaged with 17 artists in two focus groups, connected with over 50 community members at our pop-up events, and had many more valuable conversations. We also gathered input from many internal stakeholders.

Next steps

  1. Prepare a draft plan
All insight will be reviewed and consolidated into a Community Engagement Report to inform a Draft Cultural Plan.
  2. Council consideration
This draft plan will be reported to Council for endorsement.
  3. Public exhibition of draft plan
Subject to council endorsement, the Draft Strategy will be placed on public exhibition for 28 days. This will provide another opportunity for community and stakeholders to have their say.
  4. Consideration feedback
Any feedback received during the exhibition period will be considered, and where required, the draft plan will be updated accordingly.
  5. Council endorsement
The final Strategy will be reported back to Council for adoption, including a report outlining how feedback received to finalise the plan.
