Emery Park playground upgrade
In 2022 Council commenced the site preparation for installing a new playground at Emery Park in Gerroa.
During the site preparation significant aboriginal artifacts were discovered. The works immediately ceased, the area was fenced, and investigations have been ongoing.
In 2024, due to ongoing delays and to ensure the community of Gerroa have a quality playground the equipment at the small playground at Headland Drive Gerroa was upgraded to provide a quality play experience for the children of Gerroa and the wider community.
Council has approval for the Emery Park playground area to be turfed including the current mound to protect any aboriginal artifacts, which will allow the security fence will be removed in the coming weeks.
It is intended to install a new playground at Emery Park once Council has completed the investigations of aboriginal heritage significance and gained a permit to allow construction on the site ensuring that aboriginal heritage is respected, and Council is successful with further grant applications.
