This project is now complete.
Kiama Council is undertaking traffic safety works along Bong Bong Street and the top of Railway parade.
The works will involve the removal of speed humps, installation of a raised pedestrian crossing and the implementation of new traffic management arrangements for the Bong Bong Street / Railway Parade precinct, Kiama.
The project was developed in 2021 after Council received a number of ongoing requests from the wider community, to improve pedestrian safety and speeds on Bong Bong Street and Railway Parade, Kiama.
The proposed designs went to public consultation from 16 December 2021 to 14 February 2022. The designs were also sent to State Rail. After this the designs were reviewed with minor changes to the final design made as required.
Final designs were endorsed by Council’s Local Traffic Committee on 5 April 2022.
The project received funding from the Australian Government Black Spot Program 2022-23.
Work is due to begin 27 April and is expected to be complete by 30 June, weather permitting.
