Kiama Council has this week welcomed a team from the NSW Auditor General’s office to our Admin Centre to begin work on our 2023-24 audit.

Last month Council reported that its 2022-23 Annual Financial Statements showed a continued improvement in accounting processes and overall bottom line.

Mayor of Kiama Neil Reilly praised Council’s finance team and the NSW Audit Office for the huge volume of work they have undertaken in the past 12 months, completing three sets of financial statements.

“It’s a mammoth task to complete a single audit, let alone three of them in 12 months. We can all be proud of this result – it feels like we’ve truly turned a corner and it’s a huge relief to know Council has now caught up to a normal cycle of financial year end and audits.”

“My heartfelt thanks go also to the NSW Audit Office team. While audits are not exactly a barrel of laughs, the team have been thoroughly pleasant and professional to work with and we really appreciate their assistance in getting us back on track.”
