Open councillor briefings trial

Kiama Council is trialing open councillor briefing sessions to allow the community an insight into their decision-making processes.

The first briefing tomorrow (Tuesday 22 February at 5pm) will involve a presentation on the recently released Traffic and Parking Study as well as planning matter regarding Fillmores music venue on Manning Street.

The trial of opening up councillor briefing sessions is to gauge community interest in attending the sessions.

This will then be reviewed to assess whether to make them permanent.

While the public are welcome to attend the open briefing session, the traditional confidential sections of each briefing will remain closed to the public.

The sessions are not being livestreamed.

Our first briefing session is to inform councillors on matters being decided on at their extraordinary council meeting this Thursday (24 February) at 5pm.
