Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Centre reopens

Kiama Council will reopen our Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Centre tomorrow (Friday 20 September).

Fire and Rescue NSW has successfully extinguished the waste pile fire which closed the centre since Wednesday.

The Centre is now safe for our community to use, including for Saturday’s Household Chemical Clean Out.

The Up4Grabs Shed will however remain closed. 

Council thanks Fire and Rescue NSW for their work managing the fire.

Our thanks also to our centre staff for their who also quickly responded to the incident, ensuring the safety of the public.

The fire has been reported to the NSW Environmental Protection Agency.

Council has engaged an independent consultant to undertake an investigation into the possible causes of the fire.
