Destination Event funding

Kiama Council, through Destination Kiama, is providing more than $47,000 to a range of local events thanks to our Destination Events Funding Program
The Destination Event Funding Program supports events that attract visitors to Kiama in line with our Tourism Strategic Plan.
That means events that are spread over the calendar year, attract visitors outside our local area, encourages them to stay overnight and inspires them to visit again in the long term.
This fund aims to encourage sustainable practices to build long term capability and increase collaboration and partnerships to deliver stronger and beneficial outcomes for local events and in turn, our community.
Seven eligible applications were assessed in round one, and will share in a total of $47,462.
Manager of Tourism and Events, Sally Bursell, said the Destination Events Funding Program helps bring exciting events to our community that attract visitors, boost the visitor economy, and add to the vibrancy of our area.
“Destination Kiama are proud to be again supporting a collection of our prized annual events such as the Winter Wine Festival, Kiama Sevens and Kiama Show as well as well as welcoming back to our calendar Clearly Music Festival 2.0 and the ever-popular winter fun runs” Ms Bursell said.
“We’re also excited to support the Sydney FC Football Festival for the first time. Co-hosted by the Kiama Junior Football Club, this will be a great couple of days where over 40 junior football (soccer) teams from all over Australia will compete at the Kiama Sports Complex.”
