Blue Haven

Kiama Council and Hall & Prior have announced a further delay in the timeline for the settlement of the Blue Haven sale, which is now anticipated to occur in early February 2025.

The delay is due to continued due diligence required by buyer Hall & Prior, as well as anticipated closures over the upcoming Christmas-New Year holiday season.

Both Kiama Council and Hall & Prior remain committed to progressing all critical milestones necessary for the settlement. The focus continues to be on ensuring the smoothest possible transition while prioritising the wellbeing of our staff and residents.

Graeme Prior, CEO of Hall & Prior, noted that while this delay is unfortunate, it is necessary to ensure all areas are properly addressed before the settlement. "We are dedicated to making sure everything is ready, and our teams are working hard on-site to reach these goals."

Kiama Council CEO Jane Stroud said: "Although the delay is beyond our control, it’s important that we address these matters thoroughly to ensure a strong foundation for the future. We remain committed to supporting Blue Haven’s operations during this time. I also wish to stress that the extensions to the contract are able to be approved under delegation given by Council at its meeting on 16 July 2024”.

Community Transport

Kiama Council can now also announce the preferred provider to take over Blue Haven’s Community Transport program is Coast and Country Community Services.

Coast and Country Community Services currently operate successfully in Shoalhaven City LGA and Bega Valley Shire LGA among others.

Kiama Council COO Joe Gaudiosi said, “This will ensure our community continues to receive reliable and high-quality transport services, supporting both residents and staff across the region.”
