During periods of rain, some or all of the public fields may be closed to prevent damage to the surface.
Status of grounds.
Council staff will inspect the fields if it appears that they may need to be closed and a decision will be made by 3pm .
If they are to be closed, the Sports Association secretary is advised, and local radio stations are notified.
Occasionally, overnight rain on a Friday night may force the closure of fields for the weekend. Council staff will inspect the grounds at first light and if it is decided to close some or all of the fields, the Sports Association Secretary and local radio stations will be notified.
It is the responsibility of the ground users to determine if a field has been closed by contacting the Sports Association Secretary or the Council after 3pm.
Sports officials should note that they have a responsibility to not commence a game or to stop play if they consider that playing on a ground is unsafe or may cause damage to the playing surface.
